13 August 2025 — The 5th IMT-GT Strategic Halal Industry Collaboration Task Force (SHICTF) Meeting was held in Hat Yai, Thailand, gathering delegates from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand to strengthen halal development initiatives under the IMT-GT framework.
The meeting reviewed the progress of key initiatives, including the IMT-GT Halal Route and Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP), and explored new low-hanging projects to enhance the subregion’s halal value chain. Discussions also focused on preparing inputs for the upcoming 19th WGHAPAS Meeting, ensuring alignment with SHICTF objectives and subregional priorities.
Key outcomes included renewed commitments to cross-border halal cooperation, identification of actionable project ideas, and continued coordination between national agencies, CIMT, and working groups to reinforce halal as a pillar of inclusive economic growth across the IMT-GT subregion.
